Kasargod, May 18: In a tragic incident, two teenage students drowned in a lake and died at Cherkappara school here on Wednesday, May 18 evening.
The deceased boys were Jith and Nanda Gopal. Both of them were 14 years old and studying in ninth standard. The incident happened at about 5 pm.
The duo had got down for a bath in the lake with their companions. They were six in all. Out of them, Jith and Nanda Gopal got stuck in the lake sludge and drowned as they were unable to come out it.
Locals and fire brigade personnel from Kasargod who came to the spot after being informed, rescued the boys from the water and shifted them to the district hospital. But they had already died by then. Their mortal remains are kept at the district hospital morgue.
