State Budget Allocates Rs 50 Cr for Christian Samuday Bhavan

Daijiworld Media Network

Bangalore, Feb 24: The B S Yeddyurappa-led state government has yielded to the need for 'Christain Samuday Bhavan' at taluk, district and state levels meant exclusively for Christains by allocating Rs 50 Cr in the new budget.

C M Yeddyurappa announced this during the budget session in the state assembly here on Thursday February 24.

It may be recalled that the Federation of Karnataka Christain Association chief Ronald Colaco had met the addtional secretary and the private secretary Daya Shankar, principal secretary SNS Prasad and chief minister Yeddyurappa urging the construction of an exclusive Samuday Bhavans for the Christian community of the state.

Colaco had made another request for setting up a separate board for Christian development, similar to the ones set up for general minority, banjara community, scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. The Christian community, though it comprises only 2.25% of the total Indian population, has made noteworthy contributions to society.

Colaco also urged due recognition to the Christian community for its selfless service and enormous contribution in the field of education, healthcare and social service which has resulted in the overall economic development of the country in general and Karnataka state in particular. However, at the same time, a large number of Christians are living below poverty line.

These concerns had not been addressed by any of the earlier governments and therefore, Colaco made a special request to CM Yeddyurappa earlier this month in Bangalore for setting up community halls at the taluk, district and state levels. Credible organisations may approach the state government for a share in this budget.

In a letter to the CM, Colaco has thanked him and the bureaucrats concerned for granting his request.

Yeddi keep Rs50Cr for your family instead looting more farmers land. Christians need justice which your gangsters attacked on worship places. If you can correct those reports issued by outdated mental troubled Soma and offer justice we will give you great respect as CM.Not only that you will be elected another election. Keep this money for you right now. In Jesus kingdom got lots of health and wealth which we are blessed tremendously to gain those gifts. Rs50 crore may be big for your show off but Christians won't respect your offer to cheat us again. Good leader shows good result without bias. Show us please like a man have some guts to offer justice

Thier biggest fear is that, they will remain in opposition permanently. This is not Vote bank policy by Hon. CM. He will win for another 15 years without Christian Votes for sure. I no neeed to say Hindu's are peace lovers & Hindusium is peace. Because world knows about hindusum.

Wow! Mr Nagesh nayak B.lore has no problem Yeddy granting 50 Crores rupees to Christian communities but he has problem if Cong or JDS does!!!!But one thing is clear, is this amount able to soothe the wounds of Christian communities if Yeddy thinks in that way? Certainly not.BJP need to chage heart than monetary alocations and political will power.Yet some puesdo nationalists are giving twisted explantions on the issue.

If every citizen of India thinks wisely and raises their voice against Injustice, unemployment, poverty, terrorism, corruption, Fanatics and criminals then many of our young Indians will stop being rowdy and start working to live decently
and take care of their own families. Charity begins from home,
in a secular country where all the religions are equal there is no need to allocate the budget on a particular religion, this type of budget will further divide the country.

It is good to see that Ronald's good offices have indeed produced excellent results. With the contacts that Ronald has established, It would wonderful if The C.M. is persuaded to review the Somashekara report and taking into consideration various aspects and Justice Michael Saldanha's views and report it would be in the interes of people in general to scrap Someshara's report and form a three man panel and ask for a fresh write up. This would indeed show that JUSTICE EVEN THOUGH DELAYED IS NOT DENIED.

nagesh nayak, bangalore very good reply. Dear brother Nithin Poojary, Mangalore/UK i have gone through the website which you mentioned in your comments. In that not only BJP support commentators even some of the congress support commentators have commented against saying that it's a vote bank politics. Did you notice that ??. Also there is no need of giving such website addresses. In the same way i can give you the many website addresses where some of the commentators commented against yeddy when he donated some amounts to the temples, but whatever it is leave it behind. There is no need to discuss about that again. Yesterday Yeddiyurappaji d state budget where he alloted some amount christian samuday bhavan. There is nothing to please minorities in this case. I think you digest this as Mr Nayak told in his comments. As you are the supporter of congress whatever BJP does good is always bad to you and whatever congress does wrong is always good. I also agree whatever bad things like church attack, pub attack happened in the past is wrong, but we have to leave past behind and live in this country peacefully without making any discrepency between caste and religion.

We all might have seen this type of statements and allotments in budgets. Every one must wait till all things are given. It is NOT said when, how, and who will do all work. Budget is only projection and many times in Indian History as well Karnataka State history it is happened.
One simple fact “After Independence all political parties said that every house must have a light, every village must have a road, every citizen must be educated at least 10th standard. All political parties d lot of money in budget for these projects”.
My question is where we stand now? It is really very painful when we see our some INDIAN brothers and sisters [Hindus, Muslims, and Christians] suffering with out road, without food, without education.
Mr. CM must focus on every aspect of his commitment what he made in budget and try to fulfill it. Mat God bless him and guide him, strengthen him to do only good to every citizen, Amen.

Until people realize the spirituality of their religion there wont be a solid bonding..for I see no difference between my savior as Christ or Krsna or Almighty Allahal..A true believer sees one god..

Protection of people is the dharma or duty of the state..attacks on places of worship is shameful. Ensure peoples right to liberty, freedom and justice then brotherhood will prevail.

We appreciate your kind gesture Yeddurappa but at this juncture we are worried about our existing structures. Please do not build anything new which you cannot protect. We suggest:
    1. Keep this fund aside and use it sparingly towards repairs to any place of worship vandalized by anti social elements.
    2. Punish severely people who are found guilty of vandalizing places of worship irrespective of any religion.
    3. Install security and CCTV’s at strategic locations.
    4. Re look at Justice Somshekara report. We are unhappy with it and we will never feel at ease unless the culprits who attacked our faith are bought to justice.

Good move by Yeddy. But, I am certain it is politically motivated. If you read the news right, it is 50cr for bhavans ALL OVER THE STATE including districts and taluks. This fund, though a good start is peanuts against the 25cr Yeddy promised for just one idol.!!!

However, it is a good start and I think that our Christians brothers deserve it and deserve more for their services and selflessness. I am not a Christian but I still feel that attacks on churches were unjustified and Yeddy did not do enough to protect them. People who claimed responsibilty are still free and the Somashekar committe was a farce as anybody can see.

Anyways, I urge my Christian brothers to put the past behind them. For, I as a Hindu do not support these clueless fundamentalists who use religion for politics. These right wing groups have a false notion that they are the protectors of Indian culture while they are really destroying peace and the very fabric that bonds all religions together.

When God gives it is for ever and when man gives it is only for temporary. To build the trust among humans it takes time and to break the trust it is very easy. Kumbaranige Varusha Donnege Nimisha. In another proverb if the money is lost everything is not lost but if the conduct is lost everything is lost.

The trust in-between community was there since long time in Mangalore which was broken instantly/with no time. Myself, a Christian love every human irrespective of caste creed color. If I love everyone the question of killing of human doesn't arise. I do pray for everyone rest of my entire burden He/God takes care. Glory to God.

I just remember one song which we used to sing during our childhood and even now.

Make me a channel of your peace.
Where there is hatred let me bring your love
Where there is injury your pardon, Lord
And where there's doubt true faith in you.

Make me a channel of your peace.
Where there's despair in life let me bring hope
Where there is darkness, only light
And where there's sadness, ever joy.

Let us accept each other as our own brothers and live like one family. God bless our beautiful country India.

Hindus have not threatened any religion. Goondas are there in all sections of the society. Even if India had 100% Hinduism there would still have been goondas threatening fellow Hindus. What surprises is the fact that when a religion points finger at other religion as a threat, people get united out of sheer fear for survival. It is in human psyche.
