The final match and valedictory ceremony of the T-20 cricket tournament organized by the Dakshina Kannada Cricket Association (DKCA), was held at Nehru Maidan on Thursday February 24.
 
The final was fought by Govindas Surathkal and NRAM Nitte, with the former emerging victorious. The tournament was organized by DKCA as part of its promotion of cricket players from in and around the city.

Bangalore-based entrepreneur Dayanada Pai’s Century Group sponsored the tournament. As many as 30 teams participated in this tournament which was inaugurated on Saturday January 15.
 


Dr Srikanth Rai, president, DKCA, said that the tournament was a grand success and thanked everyone for their co-operation all through the tournament.
 
The chief guest at the programme Manmohan Malli presented the awards to the champions and the winners of category prizes such as best player, best all rounder, and best bowler.
 
Jyothi Prasad Hegde, Dr Srikanth Rai (president, DKCA), Arun Kumar Shetty (secretary, DKCA), Prakash Samaga (Daijiworld),Venugopal Kaikanba (secretary, tournament), Dr Devdas Rai, Dr Mohandas Bhandary, Nithin Shetty, Harish Gowda, Mahabal and Marla (admin secretary), were present on the occasion.
 
NRAM won the toss and batted first setting a target of 113 for the loss of 10 wickets in 18.1 overs thanks to a brilliant batting display by Rohith who smashed 40 and Milan made a valuable 18.
 
Though Sampath of NRAM Nitte tried his best to restrict the opposition claiming 3 wickets for 24 runs, his efforts went in vain.

Pradeep of Govindas Surathkal scored 35 and Kalandar contributed his share of 20 runs to the team. Finally, after a thrilling competition, Govindas won by 2 wickets reaching the target of 113 with one ball remaining.

Rohith (NRAM) was declared ‘man of the match’ while Ashreen of City bagged the ‘best batsman’ award. Nagaraj of NRAM got the ‘best bowler’ award and Pradeep of Govindas Surathkal won the ‘man of the series’ award. Daijiworld was the media sponsor of the tournament.

    congrates kalandar and govinda das college for winning prestigious victory,,great effort kalandar for scoring valuable 20 runs in final while chasing. he was my team mate and very good all rounder with great cricketing style and is palying for sixer cricketers... kadike haleyangadi.
