Karnataka HC Issues Notice to Janardhana Reddy

New Delhi, Feb 25, (PTI): The Karnataka High Court today issued notice to Tourism Minister G Janardhana Reddy, on a public interest writ petition, asking him to appear in court in connection with a criminal case at Sandur in Bellary district.

When the PIL filed by city-based advocate G R Mohan came up for hearing before the division bench comprising Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice A S Bopanna, the court ordered issue of notice to the minister and permitted the petitioner to implead the Director of Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) Ramachandra Reddy.

The petitioner submitted that Reddy, facing a criminal case on illegal mining in the Judicial Magistrate's court with a non bailable warrant issued against him, "does not care for the court order and was not appearing before the court" despite the summons issued to him. The court adjourned the hearing of the petition to March 25.

SC Orders Probe into Illegal Mining in Bellary

New Delhi, Feb 25, (PTI): The Supreme Court today ordered a probe by its committee into alleged illegal mining in Bellary and other forest areas of Karnataka.

A bench headed by Chief Justice S H Kapadia asked the apex court-appointed Central Empowered Committee to conduct the probe and file its report within six weeks.

The court passed the order on an oral mention made by advocate Prashant Bhushan who said that the report of the Karnataka Lokayukta clearly stated that mining activities were being carried not only illegally but also stretched to areas categorised as forest land.

"Rampant illegal mining is going on in Karnataka and the same has been recorded by detailed report of Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde," he pleaded before a bench also comprising justices Aftab Alam and K S Radhakrishanan.

Earlier, the bench had directed the CEC to probe the Andhra Pradesh side of the Bellary region.

Inspite of several summons he is not appearing in the courts then why the court does not send a non bailable warrant and put such a person behind bars and confiscate and attach all his property and assets including the cash he thrives on. Our courts are all useless they do not have the will and inclination to take such criminals to jail they can only put poor people in the jails but such goons are scot free to do what they want.

KARNATAKA HIGH COURT should not only send NOTICE but give orders to ARREST Janardhan Reddy soon. He should not be allowed to sit on his Ministry CHAIR but told to RESIGN. This is good NEWS and we hope Janardhan is ARRESTED immediately.

Bellary is believed to have huge iron deposits, between 2.5 billion tones to 4 billion tones and 65 per cent of this is in forest area. The Karnataka State Remote Sensing Applications Centre has reported that Bellary's mining area has increased from 230 hectares to 1,508 hectares now. What's more, large areas of forest land were de-notified for mining operations just before the boom began.
The reasons for redefining corruption in Karnataka lie in distant China. A boom in the construction industry there, accelerated by the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, pushed the international price of iron ore from $17 per tone in 2000-2001 to the present $55. At its peak-in 2004-2005, the price touched a mind-boggling $75.
The Reddy brothers of Bellary came out of nowhere are very well known as mining millionaires many times over and the Obulapuram mine is the main source of their incredible illegal-wealth.

Reddy's days are numbered and which may pave the way for new headache to Yeddy's ministry. In karanataka no ministers resigns of his own when court takes cognizence of offence made by minister or law maker.CM himself faces unprecedented charges over de-notification of prime/valuable land for his kin and kieths. Then certainly question arises how he ask for his foe's(REDDYS) head if court strictures Reddys contribution in illeagal mining. In past 3 years there were consecutive troubles for Yeddy in every interval!!Is VAASTU not doing good inspite of Yeddy's frequent visit to temples?A query everybody's mind!!!
