Doha: Tulu Koota Kabaddi Tourney is a Resounding Success

Doha, Feb 26: Tulu Koota Qatar hosted the third grand Kabaddi tournament at the Sumayya Primary Independence School play ground, located near the Mall Roundabout on Friday February 25.

The 10 teams which participated in the event were MCC, Deema, United Kabbadi, Mangalore Friends, Advanced Technical Services (ATS), host Tulu Koota Qatar, OHL, Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ), South Kanara Muslim Welfare Association (SKMWA), and Hanan.

In the morning, Tulu Koota president Ramachandra Shetty welcomed the gathering. H K Manjunath, support sponsor of the tournament, addressed the gathering and greeted the participating teams. Sports secretary Kiran Anand conducted the oath-taking ceremony with the team captains. Tulu Koota secretary Sandesh Shetty hosted the morning session and announced the fixtures of the tournament. Ramanand Shetty, support sponsor of the tournament, was present on the dais.











































The knockout session was followed by semifinal matches. The first semi-final was between Deema and United Kabaddi, which the former won by only 3 points. Second semifinal match was played between KSQ and SKMWA which the former won by 9 points.

The most awaited final was played between Deema and KSQ. Deema won the title by just one point. The semi-final and final matches were played for 15 minutes each with two sessions whereas all other knockout matches were played for 10 minutes with two sessions each.

For the prize distribution ceremony in the evening, ICC President K M Varghese was the chief guest, Nazir, managing director, M/s Qatar Multi Tech, the golden sponsor of the tournament was the guest of honor.

Tulu Koota president welcomed the gathering. Chief guest K.M Varghese congratulated the winning teams as well as Tulu Koota for organizing such a great event to support the kabaddi players. Guest of honor Nazir, who is a great Kabaddi player, thanked Tulu Koota for giving him the opportunity to be a part of this tournament.

The team members of the winning team Deema were Mansoor (captain) Roshan, Lathif, Samad, Sablal Sheikh, Abu Bakker, Kamruddin, Vipin and Naufa. The team manager was Ramanand Shetty.

The runners-up of KSQ included Ravi Urwa (captain) Lancy, Chitra, Dinesh, Prakash, Jayan, Kaliyappan, Anand, Koti and Den Singh. Anil was the team manager.

The ‘best raider’ of the tournament was Ravi Urva of KSQ, and the ‘player of the tournament’ award was bagged by Mansoor of Deema, while the ‘best catcher’ of the tournament was awarded to Shabulal of Deema.

Talented duo Subramanya and Abdus Salam kept the audience entertained with their running commentary while the score panel was controlled by Seetharam Shetty, Dinesh Chandra Shetty, Sandesh Anand, Mohan J, and Sunil. The sound system was provided by Sunil and Dhananjay.

The referee panel was led by J Antony and assisted by Kumar Rangan, Ali Mutthan, and  Poovalingum. The first aid medical team was led by Rehman Bantwal and Selvag.
Milan Arun, head of affiliations and councilor services, Ashmath Ali, Divakar Poojary, Ravi Shetty, and Prakash Chandra Ajila distributed prizes to the winners along with the chief guest and guest of honour.

Della Rego compered the prize distribution ceremony while Kiran Anand, sports secretary, concluded the event with the vote of thanks.

The golden sponsor of the event was Nizar of Qatar Multitech, co-sponsor was Mohammed Altaf, regional director of Lulu Hypermarket. Santhosh Shetty sponsored one return air ticket from Doha-Dubai-Doha. Senior members of the Koota, founder members, EXCOM and officials of several organizations were also present on the occasion.

Hundreds of Kabaddi lovers gathered at the venue to witness their favorite teams in action.

    Congratulations to all the teams for playing the game with true sportsman spirit which is very much required specially in the aggressive game such as Kabbadi. Many congratulations to Mr.Mansoor and all the players of Deema the winners and Mr.Ravi Urva and all the players of KSQ the runners. Overall a well organised event by Tulu Koota Qatar where in it was a real feast for all the sports lovers in Qatar with some exceptional rides and catches by some outstanding players and not to forget the nail biting finals.

    Great work by the team lead by President Mr.Ramachandra Shetty . Good work by Mr.Alex in spreading the great show of the players and organisers across the globe through Daiji World for the benefit of the dear and near ones of these participants.
