Mangalore: Art Exhibition Held in City Stands Up for a Noble Cause

Mangalore, Feb 27:
‘Art 4 Concern’ Charity Art Exhibition and Auction, a unique one day event organized on the sideline of centenary year of Milagres Church was inaugurated by Fr Walter D’Mello, parish priest, Milagres Church at Senate Hall on Sunday February 27.
 
K G Ramesh Rao, deputy general manager, Karnataka Bank Ltd was the chief guest. Alwyn Rosario, vice president, Milagres Church, Melwin D’Cunha, chairman, MCC Bank were the guest of honor.


Prof Ramadas Adyanthaya, dean, faculty of Fine Arts, Alvas College, Moodbidri delivered a talk on Art. Rajendra Kedige, convener and Anil Rasquinha, convener and Gurkar, Milagres Church were present.
 
Uniqueness of the Programme:

10 professional artists contributed their works for display in the exhibition. The paintings were based on the themes pertaining to catholic community, nature/landscape, universal concept etc. The exhibition culminated with auction of 20 paintings in the evening.
 
30% of the proceeds from the sale of the paintings are dedicated to charity. Pramila Monteiro of Kulshekar, a victim of burns injury was one among the beneficiaries.
 
Artists such as Anand Bedrala, Anil Devaiga, Basavaraj Kutni, Harish Kodialbail, Jeevan A S, Permude Mohan Kumar, Rajendra Kedige, Syed Asif Ali, Santhosh Andrade, Wilson Kayyar participated in the exhibition. Mahesh Nayak compered the programme.

    Good Idea by Artists. It will be good to know what was the charity made and how Pramila Montiero was helped.
