Udupi, May 24: A road that connects the famous Manipal has become dangerous for commuters. It is Ambagilu–Perampalli– Manipal road that connects Santhekatte with Manipal. The road is riddled with issues throughout.
The incomplete pipeline work at the end of the road that is at a certain height and the mud that has caved in the rain has piled up in one place hindering traffic. The piled up mud has occupied a part of the two lane road hindering the speed of the vehicles.
The divider that was here earlier was demolished saying that it was constructed against the rules. The work on the new divider is in progress. But as there is no divider at present, the vehicles and pedestrians are crossing the road as they like inviting accidents. The road is about 5 kilometres long and the work is in progress from Ambagilu to Perampalli.
The work on the road for a distance of 2.5 kilometres was completed. However, the mud piled up on the spot is posing danger for the vehicle drivers. Two wheelers, three wheelers, buses, cars and even ambulances ply on this road regularly.
Besides that, water from higher places flows to the road here owing to the absence of proper rain water drains on both sides of the road. Therefore, pedestrians also are inconvenienced and they are forced to walk in the middle of the road.
It is unfortunate that the road that connects internationally acclaimed Manipal is in such bad condition. It is high time the department and officials concerned get the mound of mud cleared and prevent accidents.
