Church Attack : Govt Says it is Yet to Study Somasekara Report

Bangalore, Feb 28 (DHNS) : Home Minister R Ashoka on Monday said the government was yet to study the Justice B Somasekara Commission report on church attacks.

Replying to the Congress members in the Legislative Assembly, who made a vain bid to seek an adjournment motion against the government over the report, he said the Commission had submitted its final report on January 28.

The minister’s statement seems to indicate that the government’s resolute defence of the findings of the Commission was undertaken without going into the details of the report.

The Home department will look into the 1,800-page document and later it will be considered by the Cabinet. Thereafter, it will become the property of the Assembly.
At present, it cannot be discussed in the House, he said.

Dismissing the charges of the Congress that the minorities in the State were feeling insecure, Ashoka said all the communities, including the Christians, were well protected by the government. There is no law and order problem, he added.

Earlier, Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah sought to make a preliminary submission on an adjournment motion he sought to move against the government over the report. He and his partymen alleged that the Somasekara Commission had failed to do justice to the community, and demanded a discussion on the report.

Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar argued that the report could not be discussed in the House as it was not an issue that had taken place in recent times. There were heated exchanges between the Minister and Siddaramaiah for sometime.

Speaker Bopaiah then set aside the notice submitted by the Congress, leading to a walkout by the Opposition parties.

The issue was raised in the Legislative Council as well. Leader of the Opposition C Motamma demanded a CBI probe into the attacks on churches.

Seeking an adjournment motion on the issue, she sought a debate on the Somasekara Commission report in the House. But Higher Education Minister Dr V S Acharya rejected the demand stating what the Home Minister had said in the Assembly.

But the Opposition members staged a walkout when Chairperson D H Shankaramurthy turned down their demand.

Government will take another two years to read the report by then BJP will complete its term. Then the time for fresh election, time to form new Government, time to new leaders. BY then Somasekara report will take the bottom place of some dust filled locker and completely forgotten by all forever. This is called Indian Politics.

My Dear Shetty, Mangalore/Dubai. Somashekara report by the old senile biased Justice IS B..ls..t. If the govt and the home minister had not gone thru it they had no business to publicise it and make a mockery of Christians and the justice system. Now when the public opinion has gone against them the idiot home minister is trying the damage control thru ignorance. Mr. Shetty ignorance does not justify stupidity/crookedness/hypocrisy.
Ajmal Kasab is a Pakistani a outsider who thinks all Indians are his enemies. But here one of our own stabbed us in the back. In Ajmal case yes there is delay because of the due procedures but no injustice in the name of justice, no mockery or insult to minorities and no blst dished out to the public.
Oh, by the way Mr. Shetty as YOU say BJP did fail to give justice to Christians.
    God bless you.

    Shetty, Mangalore / Dubai,
By keeping Kasab alive and following certain stipulated legal procedures, India has been able to prove to the world that Pakistan is a rogue country and appropriate action is now being taken against Pakistan globally.
I don’t think you will be able to understand this game or else you would not be working in Dubai.

I'm not surprised..where the govt has time for these things anyway?when u r damn busy with illegal mining, land grabbing, rampant transfer of honest officers, bribing opposition MLA's..but still even if govt reads n byhearts this nonsensical mumbo-jumbo report what can we expect..nothing..the report has been prepared in RSS office by some bajarangies long back..somashekar simply signed it n gave it2 govt,every1 knows this game.so folks ignore this..just remain focused on real issue:1-saffronised courts n judiciary,
2:RSS/BAJARANGI infiltration in police n armed forces.
3:marriage of convenience happening btwn politicians n sadhus/babas/gurus..
these 3 things will rip apart this nation..n going2 cause widespread godhra/kandamal type of engineered riots targeting minorities.

Home Minister has not read the report ? Infact, it was dictated by BJP and no need for them to read it. Lokayukta shoul raid the house of old man Somu and find outhow much black money given by his stale BJP masters is hidden in his bed and ceiling. Their report is nothing but toilet paper. Never expect justice from corrupt, impotent, biased, shameless, rotten, stinking BJP headed by our 'thief' Minister Yeddy.

As usual a piece of b-s-t from an stupid politician. We Christians are famous for our patience, forgive and peace lovinmg policies and these idots thought "do anything to them they will just pray and forgive and will not do anything."
They never expected us to unite and act which was a rude awakening shock to them. So the sleeping home minister has woken up and given a statement. Well Ashoka please tell us:
    1. Why was a single senile old biased so called justice, who takes more than two years to find out nothing and gives opinion on all unrelated issues and not on the issue concerned. 2. If the govt. did not have time to go thru the report why was it made pulic. If you are going to say that you were not aware of this then please step down because you are not fit to be a home minister or a minister of anything?

The differene between BJP and Congress is BJp stalls the parliament with leak of report and here in karnataka there is no time to read the report. What is fun in enquiry commission report if Govt is not bothered to read the report. By borrowing time issue can not be buried.Try to slow peddle the case where govt made inquiry commission to write the report in their favour.

It is very amusing why was Justice Somashekar Commission set up in the first place. Even after a month since submission the government claims it has not gone through it to decide on its merits.
Its time the governments started doing their job as soon they would meet the same fate as leaders in the ME are facing now
