Dubai: Yaksha Raksha Gaurava annual special award to be conferred on Prabhakar D Suvarna

Dubai, Jun 1: Prabhakr D Suvarna, who is lending helping hand to Yakshagana artistes through his service organization Suvarna Pratishtana is unanimously elected for the Yaksha Raksha Gaurva, special annual award of 2021-22.

Already 12 senior artistes of Yakshagana are honoured with honorary cash award.

Prabhakar D Suvarna joined Yakshagana Abhyasa Taragati of Dubai in 2012. He got trained by Shekhar D Shettigar and Sharath Kudla. He has donned various roles like Adimaaye, Brahma, Vishnu, Eshwara etc and has won the hearts of Yakshagana lovers. He has also participated as guest artiste in Kateel, Dharmasthala, Bappanadu and Bala troupes.

Prabhakar was born in 1951 as son of Dasappa Jathanna and Kalyani Dasappa couple. His wife is Vasanti Suvvarna. He has two daughters. One of them is Prithvi Suvarna who is also a Yakshagana artiste. He is working as an employee with Al Shaya trading company in Dubai. He is felicitated by various organizations for his contribution to Yakshagana field.

Prabhakar has provided kit during corona pandemic to financially poor yakshagana artistes and their families. He also sponsors education of financially poor students. He also felicitates many artistes from his native place.

Dubai Yaksha Kala devotees wish Prabhakar D Suvarna all the very best in his future life. The award will be presented to Prabhakar on June 11 at the dais of Lalitopakyana Yakshagana play in the presence of eminent personalities as per the information given by Kottinja Dinesh Shetty, convener of Dubai Yakshagana Abhyasa Taragathi.
