Mangalore: Thousands Bid Final Adieu to Bishop Gee Varghese at Jacobite Cathedral

Mangalore, Mar 9: The final rites of 78-year-old Bishop Gee Varghese Mor Policorpos was held at St Anthony’s Jacobite Syrian Cathedral here on Wednesday March 9 morning.

His Beatitude Thomas Mor Basellios, head of India’s Jacobite Syrian Congregation led the last rites of Bishop Gee Varghese Mor Policorpos along with many bishops and religious heads of different Christian congregations.

Earlier, nearly 10 bishops celebrated the Holy Mass at the Cathedral at 8.00 am followed by the burial rituals.

St Anthony’s Jacobite Syrian Cathedral former secretary A C Jayaraj, secretary Isaac E C, Kadaba block Congress committee president P P Varghese, Nellyady St George Pre-university College principal Abraham Varghese, former MP Vinay Kumar Sorake, Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee (DCC) vice-president Ivan D’Souza, Kerala former minister T U Kuruvilla and MLA Saji Paul, other religious heads of various Christian denominations paid last tributes to the repose of soul of Bishop Gee Varghese Mor Policorpos.

Bishop Gee Varghese Mor Policorpos had served the congregation for over five decades especially in coastal Karnataka and Kerala. He was born in Thennitela village in Alapuzha district of Kerala.  He commanded great respects from people of different faiths and religions during his lifetime.
