1,100 Men Fined for Travelling in Delhi Metro's Women Coaches


New Delhi, March 9 (IANS) Over 1,100 men were fined Rs.2.90 lakh for travelling in Delhi Metro's reserved coaches for women, police said Wednesday.Of these, the maximum (254) were fined at Rajouri Garden Metro police station, followed by Kalkaji Mandir (251)."Men, who were found in these reserved coaches, were presented before the station controller of the Metro stations and were fined," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police B.S. Gurjar said.

At Qutab Minar police station, 207 men were fined, followed by Yamuna Depot (195), Kashmere Gate (134), and Shastri Park (103).

The first compartment of every Metro train is reserved for women since Oct 2 last year.
