Puttur: Mohan Bhagwat Inaugurates RSS Pratinidhi Sabha

Puttur, Mar 11: Rashriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak, Mohan Bhagwath, inaugurated the Pratinidhi Sabha that went under way at the tastefully decorated venue in Vivekananda College campus here on the morning of Friday March 11. Hundreds of RSS functionaries, who have come from all over the country as delegates in this convention, are participating.

In his annual report placed before the convention, Suresh Joshi, Sah Karyavaya of RSS, paid glorious tributes to stalwarts like advocate from West Bengal, Kalidas Basu, Sri Vidyashankar Bharati, Shankaracharya of Kolhapur Karaveera Peetha, Uttam Mule from Maharashtra, vocalist Bhimsen Joshi, Rajeev Diskhit, retired governor, Mahavir Prasad, senior Congressman, Karunakaran, noted Gandhian, Eshwarbhai Patel and many others, whose ideals and thoughts had something in common with  the ideals of RSS, and who passed away in the recent past.

Joshi said that the number of those who underwent seven-day training in the Prathamik Shiksha Varga, has crossed 63,000, and those who got advanced training, has crossed 15,000. He said that the Sangh has been conducting 39,908 Shakhas in 2 7,078 villages and cities in the country. In addition,     7,990 Milans which meet once a week, and 6,431 Sanghas and Mandalis which meet once a month, also are functioning, he explained.

Joshi also gave details of various programmes conducted for encouraging the youth to become society-centric. He termed Narmada Kumbhamela organized at Mandla in Madhya Pradesh, where over 30 lac Hindus had come together, setting aside social, caste and other differences, as the sign of united strength of Hindus. “Volunteers from Mahakoshal region of that state had collected grains, rice and donations in small measures from over five lac households for the Kumbha Mela,” he revealed. He also explained about various relief activities, anti-terrorism drive and other initiatives undertaken by RSS.

Terming excessive consumerism and the general tendency of throwing ethics and principles to winds for mustering wealth as the main reason for rampant corruption, he called upon economists, social thinkers etc., to mull about ways and means to change this scenario. He also put forward a case for strengthening of the Sangh for facing the challenges and apprehensions being faced by the people of the country currently.
