Udupi: Kasturba hospital awarded CAHO- 3M-CSSD -ACE Certification

Udupi, Jun 17: Kasturba hospital, Manipal is awarded with the CAHO- 3M-CSSD -ACE Certification. The Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organizations (CAHO), a non-profit organisation engaged with various healthcare facilities with a goal to continuously improve the quality and safety of healthcare services has launched the awareness compliance excellence (ACE) programme as a quality improvement initiative in association with 3M India that serves as the technical guidance partner in this initiative.

Dr H S Ballal, Pro Chancellor of MAHE, Manipal and Dr PLNG Rao, Pro Vice Chancellor (Health and Dental Sciences) MAHE, Manipal jointly handed over the certificate to Dr Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent and Dr Muralidhar Varma, Chairman, Hospital Infection Control Committee and Dr Suneel C Mundkur, Advisor, Quality implementation, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal and they congratulated the entire team. Dr M Ventatraya Prabhu, Pro vice Chancellor (Health Sciences), C G Muthana, COO Kasturba Hospital Manipal, CSSD Staff other Management staff from hospital were present.

As a part of the preparation, the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) department of the hospital has undergone self-assessment, followed by virtual audit on October 26, 2021 where gaps were identified.

During next six months, technical and nursing staff underwent basic and advanced course certification and process improvements were done. The final Physical Audit was held on March 5, 2022 and the hospital has successfully performed to achieve the qualifying mark for certification under the Large Healthcare Organization Category. Kasturba hospital, Manipal is the largest teaching hospital to be awarded with the CAHO- 3M-CSSD -ACE Certification.
