Im really sorry to comment on your post.
How many singers have you seen in Mangalore who stick on to the Konkani tradition or the language while composing songs. I could name many but Mandd Sobhann is the only troop who give their audience the authentic konkani culture music. Traditions and likings do change in course of time but to retain originality... one should learn from Mr. Eric Ozario.
I admit Creative Indian's Association organized this show by inviting Mandd Sobhann, so the credit is equally divided. Please dont forget that Mandd Sobhann's founder is the one who made it possible with 'Konkani Nirantari'.

Some have also commented that to save money for good causes and other reasons get local singers, for your info its not about money here its about art. Also a commet stating that local singers can sometimes do better than these famed singers this may be true but whose songs do these local singers perform for?? they sing songs without the permission & knowledge of original composers, they earn name & fame at the cost of others talent, which is injustice to the original composers & people who deserve it are not even recognized, so just supporting local singers will not serve the purpose we need to have a larger perspective, if we support only local singers at the above cost, mark my word Konkani music growth will suffer, so please recognize original composers and singers, singing competion winners and local talents are also very important but lets face the fact for Konkani music to be alive and prosper we need people who can compose original song and tune and contribute to nuture the music culture. let all grow together and lets build a strong music culture in konkani & let its flavour spread across the world.

I have not mentioned anywhere that its organized by Mannd sobhan,Its organized by others but MS is the music performer. I only told when a person or team is given a show standard artist(i.e people/teams having good brand) don't want others to perform in their show, that does not mean local talents or others are not good its their coice to build their identity( For example see some other shows in hindi, english etc etc , if its a sonu nigam show then, its only sonu, like wise any other artist also, u cant see kay kay performing for sonu nigam concerts etc etc when the organizers and performers have their standards they don t entertain substandard things) local talents may have got stage many other times also.
You people before commenting must have some basic idea of intellectual rights, identity & organizing ethics for music shows etc etc. Organizers may have got their agendas for diffrent shows, some times they might want to support local talents and some times they might also want to get others depends on the agenda of that particular event, it should not be a general statement because its a fact that there are many progs in the gulf which support and promote local talents.

Who says it is MANDD SOBHANN SHOW? It is clearly mentioned ‘Mangalorean Day’, being organized by Creative Indians Association’s ‘Konkan Kalzan’. When Creative Indians are organising this show, why credit to MANDD SOBHANN?

Giving opportunity for local singers is completely organizers choice. I feel its ok, it is just a Mandd Sobhann show, not AR Rehman show! These kind of shows happen every now and then in GULF.

What is this FIRST Konkani Open Air Show? Does it mean a Konkani Programme coming to open air FIRST time in the Gulf? or FIRST time Baila will be performed in the open air? If so what about earlier bailas? What is FIRST? Total Confusion@#*!

why the organisation is spending so much money & bringing Mand saba. you could make this programme simple by giving chance to Kuwait konkani singers. ofcourse they are capable. save money, help people, there are so many sick people in Mangalore who cant afford for thier treatment,struggling between life and death. Recession is still high peak, so many disaster in several parts of the world.

Well I read the comments from most of the readers in this forum about giving chance to the local talent…One thing I would like to highlight here is…Most of our Mangalorean Konkani organizations are run with some strong high headed members who has their own clout in the organizations. It is not about nurturing talents in these shows, rather it’s about egoistic approach of the organizers.

Mr. Jackson has opined here that it’s a Maand Sobhaan show. But my question here is who is organizing it? I believe one of the Kuwait Local Konkani organizations Right?. Now if these organizations are true in their endeavors then they should promote these local talents at these kinds of shows.

My only apprehension about the local talents is “they are too good at times for these professional singers and these so called famed performers are afraid of the local talents stealing the limelight. In a nutshell I would conclude that there is a big politics being played by the members of these organizations. I have gone past all these things in the last couple of decades living here in the Gulf.

My dear friends its not about giving chance, if you are capable people will give you a chance, but this is a show fron Maand Sobhan and we cant expect outsiders to perform in it, its performance by their team itself, so while commenting be matured and comment, yes not only these but more youngsters should be given oppurtunity, there are far more deserving youngsters in konkani much more deserving than the winners of SOAD and GVOM even they are not recognized by the konkani organizers, konkani associations should come forward and promote genuine young talents who can continue the konkani music culture and not only the winners of reality singing competitions and these elder artists.

RAshmi you are correct. It is the injustice done by organisers to the talented lady in konkani from kuwait. Last time during world konkani convention too, Gladys has not given chance to participate while semifinal loosers of kuwait were given a chance to sing . May kuwaitkar like me are disapointed. But one thing to say about Gladys that she is already won the hearts of konkani world by winning the most prestigious title GVOM 2nd.Question need to be answered by organisers for vomitting Gladys that when show is organised in kuwait . Else it will be like frog in the well and a crab in bucket.

I completely agree with below point. GVOM and Soad are so called talent hunts in Konkani and we afraid to give them a chance on a bigger stage of Konkani. This is definitely demotivating for them and all other amatuer singers. Point to be noted by all the ORGANIZERS of Konkani shows!
