Kundapur, June 19: Kundanadu Farmers Producer Company under the aegis of Agriculture, Horticulture, Irrigation, and Atal Incubation Center Nitte was inaugurated on June 19 in Amparu Vidhyadaini Hall.
After inaugurating the Farmers Producer Company, MLC Manjunath Bhandary said," There are several changes that took place in the field of the agriculture sector."
Plans are afoot to promote agricultural activities and provide for facilities with the intention of doubling farmers’ incomes. Awareness about agriculture should be created in student life, he added.
Byndoor MLA BM Sukumar Shetty distributed the share certificate letters of Kundanadu Farmers Producer Company.
Presiding over the function, Udupi District Farmers Association president K Prathapchandra Shetty said, "More support should be given to mechanised agriculture. Small farmers should get proper facilities."
The cooperative sector which started in favour of farmers is not getting due importance in this direction, he added.
Today, products grown by farmers should get a proper price. Hence, the prices of such products should be increased. The price of coconut has gone down. But, the price of the products of coconuts hasn't been reduced, he added.
Hence, such a company should start a good coconut preparation unit. Farmers and customers should obtain the benefit, he said.
Director-Centre of Excellence for Farmer Producer Organizations, Bengaluru, Dr Ashok Aluru, Udupi District Joint Agriculture Director Kempegowda H, District Horticulture Deputy Director Bhuvaneshwari, Atal Incubation Center Dr PA Achar were the chief guests.
Directors Sharath Kumar Shetty, Devalukunda Chandrashekar Udupa Kenchanur, Sharth Chandra Shetty Gulwadi, Sadashiva Shetty Shankarnarayana, Vivek Bhandary Gulwadi, Uday G Poojary Chithoor, Sathish Shetty Hakladi, Govardhan Shetty and others were present.
