Mangaluru: Shriyana S Mallya emerges champion in state chess championship

Mangaluru, Jun 20: Woman Candidate Master (WCM) Shriyana S Mallya became the champion in the Under 15 Rapid Rating Karnataka State School Girls Championship 2022 which was organised by Karnataka State Chess Association on June 15 and 16 at Mysore.

Shriyana is learning chess from the Rao's Chess Corner where FM (Fide Master) Sharan Rao is the head coach. She is student of Lourdes Central School, Bejai.

She remained unbeaten in the event by scoring 8 wins and one draw in 9 rounds to secure the championship.

With this performance, Shriyana S Mallya will get a sponsored visit to the upcoming 44th Olympiad tournament happening in India at Chennai with travel and stay benefits.
