Opp Turns Heat on Yeddyurappa on Donations to his Sons' Trust

Bangalore, Mar 14 (PTI): Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Monday rejected a CBI probe into the Opposition's charge that his sons misused office to get donations for a trust run by them as the Legislative Assembly witnessed angry scenes over the issue.

Opposition leader Siddaramaiah (Cong) alleged that the Prerana Educational and Social Trust, run by B Y Raghavendra and B Y Vijayendra and some others, had received Rs 27.18 crore donations during 2008-09 and 2009-10 and the donor firms had been granted favours by the government.

Intervening during submissions by Siddaramaiah when he sought to move an adjournment motion on the issue, Yeddyurappa said the government was ready for any inquiry, except by CBI.

"BJP-ruled states don't have confidence in the CBI," he said, a position which irked the Congress and the JDS with almost all opposition members on their feet demanding a CBI probe.

The treasury benches supported the chief minister's stand with full vigour, as sparks flew between them and the Opposition.

A combative Yeddyurappa said such trusts were being run by Opposition parties as well and said he was ready for a comprehensive discussion, also involving them, not just Prerana Trust.

Yeddyurappa also warned that if debate were to be held on the trusts run by some Opposition members, "they may have to run from the House (for cover as they will be exposed).

"We are ready for discussion," Siddaramaiah insisted, accepting Yeddyurappa's offer for a comprehensive debate.

Yeddyurappa said if it's proven that the Trust had misused funds, he would quit office, for which Siddaramaiah said it was not the point the opposition was raising.

Siddaramaiah said the donors were granted official favours and one of them, Adarsh Developers, was allowed to encroach government land.

While withholding consent to the adjournment motion, Speaker K G Bopaiah allowed discussion on the issue under a different rule.

Please appoint Justice Somashekar to probe into trust's held by your sons, to see if a Quid-Pro-Quo exists between donations and official favours in return...

Please don't forget to ask him two reports, one interim and one final, so he could negotiate properly after interim report....

If The c.m.yadiyurappa or his family members are not involved any guiltyness like bribes or illeagal funds, then why he is afraid of any of the enquiry, inspection etc. or like any such a probe.he have to welcome that, and face it and also prove it to public that, he is very sincere, honesty and a proud chief minister of our karnataka as ever before.but unfortunately whenever comes charge against him he is telling the bribes of others like opposition parties.we are the public never say that other political leaders are not corrupted.but that is not a creteria to approve c.m's corruption.if c.m have the evidence of the others bribe.,then he should not take it as weapon to protect his bribe.instead, being c.m.his duty is that he have to order his police dept.to enquire their bribes and disclose to the public and also they should face the leagal action.but unfortunately when c.m.bribes are comes out he is murmuring about others bribe.this is shame to chief minister.and this is nothing but he is indirectly agree that I am corrupted bcz others also the same.or indirectly his statements says that, no need any enquiry about any of my bribe bcz this is very common factor.
