Mangaluru, Jun 24: A contract labourer working at a factory in the city, died while repairing a crane. This incident occurred on June 22.
Keshava (47), resident of Khana, who worked as rigger on contract the workshop, is the person who died in the mishap. He was working with his colleague Sunil. Counter weight in the trailer hit him while unloading the same through crane.
Though Keshava was rushed to A J hospital immediately, he succumbed on the way. A case in this connection is registered in Surathkal police station.
Labour unions have demanded a compensation of Rs one crore to be paid to the next of kin of deceased Keshava.
MLA Dr Bharath Shetty instructed the factory officials to provide maximum compensation to the family of deceased Keshava. He also urged the company to increase safety measures to prevent any recurrence of the same in future.
