Bengaluru: Super cop Shivanna collects Rs 2 lac of traffic violation fines in just 6 hrs

Bengaluru, Jun 24: Sub-inspector M Shivanna collected a whopping Rs 2 lac in fines at Jnanabharathi junction here on Tuesday between 11 am and 5 pm. This unique achievement was tweeted with pictures by Kamakshipalya traffic police.

Shivanna collected fines for breaking the traffic rules in 249 cases. In the last six months, SUV owners have paid a maximum fine of Rs 36,000 for 36 parking violations in the city. But Shivanna broke all records and collected Rs 2 lac in just six hours.

Shivanna and his team were deployed at Jnanabharathi junction to check the violations. They stopped only two-wheelers and cars. Excepting SUV, around 15 cases were recorded against two-wheelers.

Most of the violations were for wrong parking, signal light jumping and for not wearing the helmet. Kamakshipalya police team appreciated the efforts of PSI Shivanna and said that they were proud of him for slapping 249 cases and collecting fine of Rs 2 lac.

    I think he did a great job however he needs to work as well on bringing forward the path holes on the roads to the concerned authorities.

    Surprisingly today, there was a checking just before entering Mangalore, before Padil. Cops must have got impressed and all of them now want to break the world record. Here, they were checking for all documents, including emission test. :-)

    In addition to many a traffic violations, the traffic cops should also pay more attention to the gross misuse of horns. In fact, I myself have been fortunate in being mistaken four wheeler car horn fitted in a two wheeler and being blown from behind my vehicle to give away for the two wheeler behind. Most of the two wheelers have blatantly violating the rules by fitting four wheeler horns. I am sure there is a rule regarding this. If not, the traffic enforcing authorities should immediately implement this rule and put an end to this menace of horn misuse.

    Sadly its a case everywhere in India that people blame the cops for genuine fines. And then people blame Cong or BJP for thr country not progressing ahead. Most of our problems are from our indiscipline and lack of intelligence. We dont see beyond ourselves when we break a red signal or when we over speed. I think all those who are speaking againgst here should look within and see how good they are as people.

    he is not super cop but just asked to get collection as his boss must have received bamboo from top....just harassing hapless two wheeler riders....most of these traffic cops does not even have manners while speaking to public...the fittest people are from Mandya..they ride bullet bikes with four people...no helmet..traffic cops there does not have the guts to say anything to them...because they will be beaten...send this cop there..he will run from duty..

    If the fines are genuine then it is good. Hope that money goes to government fund and used it proper way instead used for buying MLAs. We need strict rules in driving. Because many accidents happens others rash driving and neglecting rules. But main thing before implementing strict rules government should provided proper roads, proper parkings also.

    This clearly shows that all he did from 11 am to 5 pm I.e. 6 hours is just irritate people on the road by stopping them and fine them instead of managing the traffic. My question is, is Shivanna and his team the most sincere and honest people in the city, state and country? Have they not done anything wrong ever in their lives? What kind of double standard is this where these are calling people as violators? If he has collected 2lk rupees then each of his team members would have made at least 2k in another form and will they ever reveal that part? They are not deployed, instead these cops mark their territories and sit waiting like crocodiles as to when they can catch, threaten and fine somebody and this is all what they do to make money every single day until retirement.

    Can you give us his break of collection details. If it true we will honour him and encourage others also to be more vigilant. We can name certain parts of bengalore and if the police without any favour to any religion or person can collect so much every day.

    Most of Our riders/drivers are ignorant of the traffic rules and police are fed up with them. If many police officers act touch, Indian drivers will be re-educated on road discipline.

    They r not ignorant, but act to be ignorant. Here when a person can get a licence thru agent who further bribe the authorities, situations will be like this. There should be strict tests for obtaining DL. like in gulf countries.
