Sullia, Jun 25: Light tremors were felt any many parts of the taluk on Saturday June 25 morning. The earth shook for about 45 seconds, it is gathered.
Tremors began at 9.10 am and was felt by the residents of Sullia, Markanja, Kallungundi, Sampaje, Peraje, Aranthodu, Ivarnadu, Thodikana and Goonadka.
Residents ran out of houses as soon as they felt the tremors. Chair, tables and other furniture shook. Utensils and other items kept on cupboard fell to the ground.
Walls of some houses suffered cracks. Tin sheets that were put on the roof of the houses also wobbled. Those who were involved in morning chores, felt as if they are shaking.
In a statement to media, Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner Dr K V Rajendra said, “Many people are calling from Sullia to inform that earth shook for few seconds and they felt the tremors. We are awaiting confirmation from the state disaster management cell about the quake and its magnitude and epicentre.”
