Bantwal, Jun 25: The inmates of a house and an occupant of a car had a providential escape after trees fell over the house and the car in two separate incidents.

In the first incident, a house was completely destroyed as a mammoth tree fell on it at Anekallu of Karopadi village near Vittal in the taluk.

Due to the incessant rains that are lashing the taluk since the night of Friday, June 24, the huge banyan tree fell on the house of Abbas Anekallu as a result of which the house collapsed within no time.

As the inmates of the house rushed out of the house as the tree was falling, no loss of life or injury occurred. The house is completely damaged in the mishap.

In another incident, a huge banyan tree, which had hundreds of years of history, fell on a car. Luckily, the occupant in the car received minor injury and is out of danger.

The banyan tree, which is reportedly 600 years old, fell on the car near Laxmankatte of Sajipanadu village under rural police station limits. Luqman, who was getting down from the car got injured but escaped certain death.

This incident happened when Luqman was returning after shopping along with two of his relative women. After the car was stopped, the women got down and went a little further, when the tree fell on the car with loud thud. Luqman was just getting down from the car, so received minor injuries.

Rural police station personnel SI Sanjeeva, personnel Suresh, Puneeth and Manthesh got the tree removed with the help of locals.
