Kasargod, Jun 25: The mortal remains of a man was found in a lake on Friday June 24 night at Kudva near Perlaidiyappa.
The deceased has been identified as Umesh (35) from Bannuthadka and a resident of Niddalli. He had started living in Bannuthadka after marriage and constructing a house there. He had performed a house-warming ceremony in Bannuthadka a few months ago.
Umesh was a toddy tapper and used to climb coconut trees to extract toddy for which he had visited a farm. Locals suspect that he slipped into the lake while he had gone there to wash his hands and feet.

Umesh was an active worker of the Congress party. He is survived by wife and two children besides his big group of relatives.
