Kadaba: Gang attacks gram panchayat president with sword, one injured

Kadaba, Jun 26: A gang of youths attacked Perabe gram panchayat president Mohandas Rai (47) with swords when he went to pacify two gangs who were having heated arguments with each other.

When Mohandas Rai was going back to his house on Saturday June 25 night, along with Raghava and Shivarama, residents of Alangaru, he noticed that a crowd had gathered near Perabe government higher primary school and there was some friction going on.

As Mohandas Rai stopped the car, Ibrahim, who is familiar with Mohandas approached and said that his brother-in-law has posted something on WhatsApp and requested Rai to intervene and resolve the matter.

In the meantime, the gang of youths consisting of Rajik, Zubair, Junaid, Moidukunj, Sanshu Aman, Sahul Hamid and others came running towards Rai’s car, pulled him out, abused him using profanity and assaulted him. Rajik swung the sword and injured back of Shivarama, who was accompanying Rai in his car.

When Mohandas Rai was starting his car to take injured Shivarama to hospital, the accused stopped the car and threatened to kill Rai.

A case in this connection is registered in Kadaba police station.
