Mangaluru, Jun 27: “The fight against Emergency which was imposed by the then prime minister of India Indira Gandhi was a milestone in Indian politics. Congress has conducted atrocities on the country twice as that by the British,” said state BJP president and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Nalin was speaking at the ‘Black day of Emergency – 45th year’ programme that was organized by Dakshina Kannada district BJP in the city.
Nalin further said, “If there was a second huge fight that has taken place in the country after independence struggle, then it is fight against Emergency. We cannot forget the elders who fought against Emergency. The protesters who were meted with cruel punishment were ready to die for the nation. From Dakshina Kannada district also thousands participated.
“The then Indira Gandhi led government murdered democracy by imposing Emergency for 21 months. We should be aware that if we forget the sacrifices of our elders, our situation will be same like that of Congress today.
“The situation of Rahul and Sonia Gandhi is pathetic due to the National Herald case. Why they are scared to face investigation if they are innocent? Earlier, when Narendra Modi was chief minister of Gujarat and BJP national president Amit Shah, they were also subjected to investigation. Congress does not respect law,” he said.
