Mangaluru, Jun 27: Senior BJP leader Anwar Manippady on Monday June 27, expressed concern over the ill treatment meted out towards minority community and demanded that they must be respected with all dignity, owing to the duties that they have been bestowed upon by the Constitution.
He expressed that the recent happenings in the past few years has been distressing. He also claimed to have been attacked time and again.
“We have been denied justice in spite of the constitution, nurturing our rights. Above all, Prime Minister’s magnificent concept of Sabka Sath and Sabka Vikas is indeed a revolutionary step towards an illustrious future. But this concept has not been initiated as yet. On the contrary, the minorities were being harassed through various means, including taking back legally sanctioned burial grounds in Sullia, Dodda Nagamangala, Bengaluru and many more in the state,” he said.
Further he expressed concern over the circumstances in which he has had to deal with lately. He indicated that the Muslim community was striving to live peacefully in the country. “The recent times have been trying for them as they are robbed of their constitutional rights, which is the very essence of democracy,” he said.
He added that his fight for justice has been continuing despite various obstacles. He mentioned that they had been victorious at the High Court on two occasions but even then it has not been an amicable settled.
Emphasising on encroachment of burial sites, he said that certain officials were trying to capture the burial grounds unlawfully, instead of handing them over to the community. To top it all, he indicated that the most corrupt centre in the state was considered to be the Wakf committee as it showed considerable disinterest in welfare of the society. He added that it only wished to acquire money and power through various means.
“It is high time that the Basavaraj Bommai government wakes up. It must ensure that truth and justice triumphs. Only then can the cause of serving the society be fulfilled,” he said.
