Mangalore, Mar 18: ‘VERVE-2011’, management fest organized by AIMIT Business School of St Aloysius College (autonomous) was inaugurated in the auditorium of AIMIT campus at 4.00 pm on Thursday March 17.

The college choir sang the prayer song and invoked God’s blessing on three days events to follow.  A presentation on various events organized by the college during the last one year was held which was followed by the presentation on Insignia 2011.

Ivan Fernandes, chairman, KE Global, Dubai was the chief guest for the inaugural ceremony.  Dr  Beena Dias, faculty  co-ordinator, Verve 2011 welcomed the gathering.  Dr Oswald Mascarenhas SJ, chairman, MBA department, AIMIT, addressed the gathering and spoke about his eight months’ experience at Aloysius Institute.

He spoke about his vision and the introduction of 30 percent new events concept every year followed by giving examples of Procter and Gamble (P & G) and he said this could be achieved by signs, symbols, metaphors and meanings.

Fr Joseph Rodrigues SJ, rector, St Aloysian Institutions presided over the function and spoke about the universal symbols for the event. Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, director, AIMIT, introduced the campus and spoke about the Jesuit ethos.  He stressed the need of creativity and critical thinking in imparting education and that is what the institution tries to implement to make students coming out of the management & IT school more conscientious, compassionate and committed.

The chief Guest, Ivan Fernandes delivered the key note address. “Dare to dream, take the step and seize the opportunities which come your way”, was his message to all the participants gathered.  He said that it is about participating in the event but not about winning which was the most motivating line to the participants. He said like the sportsmen who kept on practising day and night students need to work hard to give a brilliant performance. He also said that the future of each and every person is in their hands and they have lived every page of their life and the next page is said to be blank and the blank page is what we are going to do in future. He cocluded by saying unlock your potential and prove yourself during the event. The vote of thanks was proposed by Govil Saldanha, student co-ordinator, Verve 2011.

The inaugural ceremony was followed by the Ice breaking session wherein each of the participating teams gave a brief introduction through enacting some of the contemporary issues in life. Twenty teams from all over the Country are participating in the two-day event.

Thank you, Mr. Ivan Fernandes, for all your initiatives in motivating not only the IT students but the entire congregation at Beeri Campus. We want a regular flow of visitors to find their way towards Beeri and share their thoughts and visions for the future leaders of the world. It is our prayer and our hope that some of the students of Beeri will shine as the prominent leaders of not only India but of the world. We have the best available substance in Mangalore. With your continued support many things will be made possible in the future.

    Dear Fr. Denzil,

I am an ex- student of St. Aloysius and happy to see the initiative taken by the AIMIT in staring and grooming the students in the Management and IT fields. Although i have not visited your new institute at Beeri, I see a model institute coming up and AIMIT surpassing all the previous records set by the St. Aloysius College Mangalore. I wish some day the college and AIMIT becomes a University in the steps of Fordham university and Loyala University.

Wish you and your team all success
