Mangaluru, Jun 30: The St Agnes College (Autonomous) here celebrated its College Day 2021-22 on Thursday, June 30 at the Centenary Auditorium.
The programme began with the college band welcoming the dignitaries and accompanying them to the stage. This was followed by a prayer song led by the college choir. The programme was compered by Sandhya, assistant professor, Department of English, which was followed by a welcome speech given from Dr Vishala.
The programme was blessed by chief guest Dr Cynthia Menezes Prabhu, vice-chancellor of Bangalore University and an alumna of St Agnes College. She addressed the students and encouraged them to make the best use of their time at St Agnes College and grow up to be proud Agnesians.
Guest of honour Grace Noronha, principal consultant of Yenepoya Institutions also spoke. The stage was honoured by the presence of the dignitaries including Sr Dr Lydia AC, president of the function and joint secretary of St Agnes Institutions, Sr Dr Venissa AC. principal and Charles Pais, registrar.
The college annual report was the highlight of the event wherein all the events and the activities of the past year along with the academic achievements of the staff and the students were reported.
During the programme, many Students received the principal’s roll of honour, various scholarships and merit certificates for their excellence in academics and in other co-curricular activities. The cabinet members of the current academic year were also awarded on the occasion.
The cultural programme included singing of various melodious songs, enchanting dance performances and drama by the students showcasing their talent, skill and dedication. Being the light and salt of the earth, displaying strength in unity, respecting motherhood and appreciating different cultures were some of the themes portrayed through the different events of the cultural programme. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks given by Vinatha K, associate professor, Department of Psychology and with the singing of the college anthem.
