Mangaluru, Jul 3: There has been a huge loss in Sullia taluk of the district due to the heavy rains that have been lashing since Friday night. Many houses are damaged due to hill collapse.
Near Sampaje, on the national highway, drains are blocked due to the collapse of a hill. Water has gushed into farm lands. The areas near the river basin are inundated. In the Oorubailu area, a landslide occurred from a hill. The mud that tumbled downwards has damaged many houses.
A part of the house at Kodankeri of Jayanagara collapsed due to hillslide. Another house was damaged at Kalanja village. The public is complaining that the government does not have a proper rescue team.

Many houses were inundated at around 3 AM due to heavy downpour. No rescue teams had even hours after the collapse.
In Ullal too, a hill collapsed near the house of P K Mohammed. The roof of a house collapsed at Mimpri. Artificial flood occurred near the connecting bridge of Keenya. Two compound walls collapsed at Gudde Koppala of Konaje.
The wall of a cattle shed also was damaged at Deraje of Sajipanadu village. A cowshed collapsed at Nayarkodi of Ira village. The compound wall of a house collapsed at Somanatha Uliya.
In Kolya, under Someshwar town municipality limits a house got damaged as a tree fell over it. Another house is on the verge of getting washed away in the sea at Bettampady due to sea erosion. A family has been temporarily shifted vrom there. Many houses are on the verge of collapsing at Ucchila and Peribail due to sea erosion.
