Udupi: Lady passenger's vanity bag with Rs 45,000 cash snatched at rly station

Udupi, July 4: A case that was registered in Mangaluru railway police station of snatching a vanity bag from a woman passenger that contained Rs 45,000 cash and golden ornaments at Udupi railway station has been transferred to Udupi city police station as per court order.

Sneha of Gujarat origin and her family were travelling to Mangaluru on June 9. When the train was departing from Udupi railway station. Sneha was speaking to her husband over her mobile phone when a stranger snatched her vanity bag and escaped. Sneha registered a complaint at Mangaluru railway station as the train had already departed Udupi.

Now the case is transferred to Udupi city police station.

    Feel sad that our Udupi too is becoming unsafe.I remember that many years ago many of the houses in the villages of our district did not have doors .The insecurity started with the case of a ripper who put fear in the minds of the people in the 90,'s.One can expect anything to happen anytime at any place.
