Mangaluru, Jul 7: Several parts of the Dakshina Kannada district continued to receive heavy rainfall on Thursday, July 7.
Nantoor junction witnessed traffic jams due to incessant rains and motorists as well as pedestrians were stranded for a long time.
As the meteorological department had declared a red alert in three districts, the district administration has declared a holiday for educational institutions.
A red alert has been declared in Dakshina Kannada (DK), Udupi and Uttara Kannada, as these districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours. It is said these districts are likely to receive over 204-millimeter rainfall.
As of now, the coastal area is receiving the highest rainfall, roads and several houses are damaged due to heavy rainfall.
