Mangaluru: Veteran Yakshagana artiste Vishwanatha Rai passes away

Mangaluru, Jul 7: Senior Yakshagana artiste, veteran of Kannada and Tulu Prasangas, Bellare Vishwanatha Rai passed away on the morning of Thursday, July 7.

Rai was a contemporary of Mandeccha, Alike, Bolara, Samaga, Mizaru and Pulincha's well known artistes from Karnataka Mela.

Vishwanatha was a recipient of Yakshanidhi and Bolar awards among several others. He was conferred with Pulincha Ramaiah Shetty award recently at Kalladka.

Yakshangana Mangaluru and Pulincha Foundation have expressed their deep sorrow at the passing away of Vishwanatha Rai.
