Mangaluru, Jul 7: Rain fury continued in the coastal part of Karnataka on Thursday July 7. A red alert was declared on July 7. The same is now extended to July 8 and 9. In the next 48 hours, copious amounts of rainfall is going to shower in all coastal districts as per the weather forecast announced by Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
Red alert is declared in three districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada. More than 204 mm of rain is expected to fall during this period. Orange alert is declared on July 10 and 11.
Violent waves of great heights are expected to arise in sea during this time as per the forecast given by IMD. Fishermen and tourists are warned not to venture into the sea.
A 60-member team of National disaster management authority and 67-member team of state disaster management squad are ready to handle natural calamities that may arise out of the heavy rains during this period.
