Kaup: Gas leak from tanker, public panic , fire service personnel rescue

Kaup, Jul 8: Gas leaked from a tanker that was plying on NH 66 near Uliyaragoli Dandatheertha of Pangala near here.

The leak sent panic waves among the public at around 11 AM on Friday, July 8.

The tanker was carrying liquid carbon dioxide from Udupi to Mangaluru. The safety pin of the tanker opened suddenly which resulted in the leaking of the gas. Fire service personnel who rushed to the spot immediately were able to contain the leak and prevent any danger.

Kaup police also arrived at the spot and arranged for traffic to move on one side of the road till the operation was over. For some time a tense situation prevailed on the national highway.

    there is no need to panic...these are common in third world countries..in gulf countries there are thousands of these kind of tankers that move everyday and not a single incident of this nature happens....
