Mangaluru: 38-year-old dead in crash between truck, van at Surathkal

Mangaluru, Jul 8: A man died after a truck carrying goods fell upon an Omni van at Honnakatte junction in Surathkal on Friday July 8.

The deceased is identified as Lokesh Kullal (38). The incident took place in the afternoon on Friday.

The van was completely crushed in the incident. Mangaluru North traffic police who arrived at the spot, shifted the truck and the van with the help of a crane.

Though Lokesh was rushed to hospital, he succumbed without responding to treatment. It is alleged that the mishap took place due to the reckless driving of the truck driver.

    There is no any speed limit anywhere in our cities.town. That’s the reason these vehicles drive very fast. Driving in mangalore ,it’s like a race. The traffic police , they stand in a their one regular corner and full fill their monthly kota. In every town and cities should fix cc cameras and whoever drive recklessly and over speed limit , put fine . They can at least try to minimise daily accidents .

    it is really scary to drive along with a truck as most of them are either overloaded or the load is not distributed properly...especially in rainy season extremely dangerous...

    Very sad.Horrible ,tragic.without his own mistake he had to die.These trucks are driving like yama.No control over speed .Why police not control them and fine .?Now who will look after his family ,children education?Will the insurance pay the amount or not ?Very sorry.May God give the family needed strength to bear the pain .Heartfelt sympathy to the family.May his soul rest in peace.Sad part here is who caused the crash is alive ,other is dead.

    Sure the truck has exceeded its capacity of weight. The truck should be crushed and the drivers license should be revoked but this is India not is going to happen

    Sad news RIP to Lokesh. I would like to blame our Traffic police for all these types of accidents. Mostly now youngsters are driving the havey licence vehicles. Better to check the genuineness of the driving license. Police must check every day almost all vehicles. Nowadays youngster without job, do driving vehicles. If traffic department Police are strict, we can reduce the accidents.
