Kundapur: Impregnation of college student - Accused sentenced to 10 years RI

Kundapur, Jul 9: Additional district and sessions court of town sentenced Ganesh Shetty (35) to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for falsely promising a girl college student that he will marry her and exploiting her sexually resulting in the birth of a child.

Justice Abdul Raheem Hussain Sheikh, who conducted the inquiry of the case awarded 10 years of RI and Rs 10,000 fine for sexual abuse, one year imprisonment and Rs 5,000 fine for cheating. The judge also said that the victim can get help from legal services authority.

Public prosecutor Prakashchandra Shetty argued for the prosecution.

According to details, Ganesh Shetty got acquainted with the college student and had physical relation, resulting in pregnancy. However, when the girl brought the matter to the notice of Ganesh, he refused to marry her. Then Ganesh was not reachable for contact. Meanwhile, the girl gave birth to a baby boy.

A case was registered and the then Kundpaur circle inspector Divakar had submitted chargesheet to the court. Accused Ganesh was arrested in October last year. DNA report of the baby matched with that of Ganesh Shetty.

    Good he got the jail punishment.Not only that he should be made to pay aliments for the baby till his adult years.Not let him scot free .How the lady will bring up child without father.?

    it is very sad to note that even after so many incidents the girls are falling prey to such young boys...probably the age or the environment makes them weak...astounding fact is that they dont take any protection at least while having sex..now the burden of raising a child without husband and with the stigma that too in country like India...very difficult...the only satisfaction is that the monster was not from minority...otherwise comments like shoot him would be abundant in this forum...undu namma jana...

    In many of the debates on Kaali poster row, the arguments brought out was it was Hindu Mahua who allegedly offended the Hindus and not person from some other community meaning thereby the intensity of the crime done by one Hindu against another Hindu is lesser in comparison to a crime done by person of one religion on another religion. So understandably many get much more offended when it is being done by another community. that is a reality please accept . However, the same people who put forth these arguments have also demanded death for Salman Rushdie, Taslima Nasreen, Ayaan Hirsi Ali etc.

    Kujuji, when i read about rape/impregnation/sexual harrassment etc...one thought is coming into my mind, how such things can happen, when people here in surroundings/neighborhood/public places/friends are all, keenly watchful and keeping an eye to catch the couple, where they go/what they etc at lonely places/houses ? I heard, even hotels ask aadhar card/home address/ names and all. Without furnishing the details, how these can acquire rooms? Even if they acquire, there are thousands of eyes who watch inside and outside auto drivers/chali polilu are awaiting like wolves with their mobiles. If this lady was not pregnant, the father of the child (now) would continue to have such activities. Sometimes girls fall prey due to blind love. Boys speak sweatly/take good care/provide things/dresses/money and mainly FALSE PROMISES. If they dont listen, they threaten them by saying to viral the photos which he captures when they are together. Self control is very important which is not seen now a days....!! Many youngsters do not know other than eating and being on mobile. They dont divert their mind into creativity....

    With the technological development criminals are easily apprehended and nailed with conclusive proof... Mobile videography , DNA sampling and cctv cameras are contributing to relative ease than before... But sad part is crime is on the rise instead of declining... Fear has reduced in peoplee... Vehemence, temporary overconfidence, greed and animosity is increasing day by day...
