Mangalore: Curtains Down on State-level Youth Conference 'Edify-2011'

Mangalore, Mar 24: The two-day state-level student youth conference 'Edify-2011' organised by Manel Srinivas Nayak Memorial (MSNM) Besant Institute of PG Studies, Bondel, concluded here on Thursday March 24 with a valedictory ceremony.
Balakridhna H, assistant general manager of KIOCL, Mangalore, was the chief guest. Manel Annappa Nayak, vice-president, WNES, and chief advisor, MBA programme, presided over the function.
Dr Manjula K T, principal, Besant Women’s College, was the guest. Faculty co-ordinators Sachin R, Chandra, and Divya S were on the dais along with Dr Narayan Kayarkatte, director, Besant Vidya Kendra.
On Thursday, three talks were held to enlighten the youth. The first talk by K Jayaprakash Hegde, former minister, Karnataka government, was based on ‘Youth and Leadership’. He called upon the youth to take initiative in the society and be leaders.
The second talk was by Dr Jacinta D’Souza, principal, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya. She spoke on ‘Youth and Social Entrepreneurship’ and gave many examples of people who have achieved great success in business.
The final talk of the day was delivered by two prominent personalities Dr Kishore, deputy director of physical education, Mangalore University, and Vasanth, national athletic coach. They briefed the delegates about the sports achievements of Indians and scope in the field of sports.
