Kundapur, Jul 13: “The issue of sea erosion troubling people here has come to our notice. Work to prevent such incidents will begin soon. The amount necessary for temporary work will be released immediately. Special initiative will be taken for the permanent solution by implementing new methods,” said chief minister Basavaraj Bommai.
He was speaking after visiting the sea erosion at Maravanthe on Wednesday July 13. “Laying stones to prevent erosion is not effective. They should be laid straight by inspecting the bottom. The work that is already done will be reviewed and action will be taken against inferior quality work. I have asked to prepare a DPR of the sea shore. A tender for Rs 184 crore is raised to develop Maravanthe port. The work will start soon,” he said.
“The deputy commissioner will be directed to provide Rs five lac in cases where houses have collapsed and Rs 10,000 for minor damages of the same,” he said.
District in charge minister S Angara, revenue minister R Ashok, minister of backward class development Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLA B M Sukumar Shetty, chief secretary G Jagadeesha, deputy commissioner Kurma Rao M, assistant commissioner K Raju, zilla panchayat chief executive Prasanna, tahsildar and local people representatives were present.
