Mangalore, Mar 27: A two-day 'Dharma Nemotsava' was organized by Kodialguthu Maladi Ajith Rai and family from Friday March 25 to Sunday March 27.

On March 25 the programme began with an invocation of God's blessings. Ajith Kumar Maladi welcomed the gathering. Prof A V Navada inaugurated the programme by unfurling a coconut flower.

Udupi Bannanje Babu Ameen spoke on the occasion explaining the importance of the ritual and said that Dharma Nemotsava refers to the worship of the family deities. He said that the younger generation needs to know the significance of the ritual and it is the elders' responsibility to pass on this tradition to the younger generation.

Dr Y N Shetty of SDM Ayurveda College, Udyavar, Udupi said that right from his childhood he was taught to worship God. He expressed his grief about the present generation that questions the significance of 'Bhootaradane'. He added that worshiping deities is a devotional service and not a glamorous show.

The ritual commenced at around 9 pm on Saturday March 26. This was carried on till the next morning. The entire programme was performed in the light of a kerosene torch.

'Nemotsava' is nothing but a get-together of all family members who are settled down any corner of the world. In the name of 'family deity' at least people visit there ancestral home once in a year and have blessings of elders in there family. As elders cannot able to reach their children's at ripe age,and having urgeness to look all young generation from their family have cultivated these traditions. Anything related to hinduism are having one or other importance.
