Bangalore: Yeddyurappa, Rebels Make Peace, Vow to Win By-polls

Bangalore, Mar 28 (PTI):
Dissidence-hit BJP's Karnataka unit on Monday presented a picture of unity, with rebel leaders joining Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa at a meeting to ask partymen to work for the victory of BJP candidates in the April 9 by-polls to three assembly constituencies.

State BJP president K S Eswarappa, national general secretary Anantkumar and Rural Development Minister Jagadish Shettar, who last week led the rebels in seeking Yeddyurappa's ouster, attended the meet, asking partymen to ensure defeat of Congress and JD(S).

Yeddyurappa dismissed the talk of differences in the party. "If it is so (differences), it is in your parties," he told the opposition, which has been carrying on a sustained campaign for his removal on corruption and nepotism charges.

Yeddyurappa was also bitter with the media for painting BJP as a dissidence riven unit in the state and said "you will not succeed in your venture".

Eswarappa in his opening remarks at the meet, attended by prominent leaders of Chennapatna, Jagalur and Bangarpet constituencies, said BJP has fielded popular candidates who were certain to win at the hustings.

Anantkumar opined DMK may not return to power in Tamil Nadu and Congress is also on the verge of losing there. Similarly, Communists will lose power in West Bengal and Kerala, he said.

Yeddyurappa came down on Congress and JD(S) saying they have no moral right to criticise defection of its MLAs to BJP. "What did they do for our MLAs, who are now fighting their case before the Supreme Court?Who ferried them to Chennai and Goa?

Congress has no moral right to continue in power at the Centre as it has been facing a spate of "scams", he alleged.

Terming JD(S) as a 'father and son' party, he said BJP workers should ensure the JD(S) was 'wiped out' from the political map of Karnataka.

Rejected by people, both Congress and JD(S) have become "destitutes", he said and slammed them for seeking his resignation.

He also urged partymen to gear up for the by-poll in constituencies which have fallen vacant after disqualification of 16 MLAs who had withdrawn support to his government, saying the Supreme Court was likely to pronounce its verdict soon.

Yeddyurappa claimed that the UPA government might collapse after assembly elections in five states, leading to mid-term polls to the Lok Sabha.

Suresh, thanks for your sane reply-as only 1500 characters get in one comment I had to end abruptly, otherwise the list is endless.
But here when state governance is in question, not central-so I only clarified regarding his(malik's) opinion.
Kargil could've been avoided had our Defence & Ruling Ministers had taken prompt action on reports of occupation of our land-action part was delayed so much we had to sacrifice 1000 of defence personnel to evict occupying enemy-who had ample time to build concrete bunkers.
Pota didn't prevent as honable malik said in preventing Kandahar Hijack. If we had sacrificed a few Indians on plane we could have saved 1000 of lives we are losing every day including Mumbai terrorism later carried by the same freed man.
Certainly I am anguished by this state govt., than the previous NDA govt. What name that govt. gained is lost by this corrupt state govt., which would stoop so low to save its chair-one point programme of it is make hay while sun is shining!
Just for a party's(both at center as well as state) sake why should we suffer corruption, nepotism & arrogance from power drunk politicians.

Wow! Shobaji's flashing a wide smile after many months.
Malik, call center- you are quoting the central BJP rule instead of corrupt state rule-which is continuation of past govts., at center=nothing new. Here are some hidden facts-
1.Businessmen (majority) support BJP, why? it lets them hoard & increase the price of every commodity- why state is not taking any action?
2.Golden quadrapules is from borrowed money from International Monetary Fund & World Bank- every govt had fulfilled its obligations of paying debts except Chandrashekar govt., which was forced to pledge gold to repay debt.
Vajpayee govt., was warned by World Bank they have exceeded their limit of borrowing debts in 2004- which might cause a grave imbalance in financial(mis) management-Dollar remittances covered this blunder THANKS TO NRI's.
3.Nuclear test was carried in 1975, the testing of Rajiv govt., permitted nuclear devices which took 10 years for our scientists to develop(not overnight development). The ban on nuclear capable technology was cleared by M M Singh later.
4.Opportunistic Hindutva policy as divulged by A Jaitley was responsible for the creation of Ayodhya crisis-which they couldn't solve despite being in power.
5.Pota- was a failure to curb terrorism- examples-Parliament Attack, Akshardham Attack, Kandhahar Hijack where the govt. surrendered to terrorists & the country is paying dearly with the death of more Indians till now.
6.Cell phone network was ushered in 1996.

They used your religion, sympathy and emotions to fool you.

Why you think these jokers have come back together?
To win elections and then start their looting job once again.

BJP the only party in india which does not belong to any family BJPs 6 years regime was a good government for Nation's development and checked on food price rises for all Indian citizens. Golden Quadruples: Infrastructure development Sarva Siksha Abiyan (SSA): For providing education to all Initiated Study panel to link all Indian rivers: For agriculture / economy development Pokran Nuclear test: To proclaim world that is India is technically capable and changed India’s role in world as dictating country instead just listening country Good management of economy: Part of India’s loan repaid Look east foreign Policy: Instead of running behind western countries, concentrate on Eastern countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia etc and get the items cheaply Initiated Muslim / Hindu leaders dialog: To solve Ayodya issue amicably as the court is delaying its verdict & as 2/3 majority not available to pass a motion like Shawbanu case. Implementing Laws Like POTA: Which will make the Indian origin people fear to help / support foreign origin Terrorist activities to control terrorism Abdul kalam as President & George Fernandez as Defense Minister: Shown people that BJP is Secular / Patriotic Indians will always get their deserving positions Effective control of TRAI: Which made the cell phone network revolution in India Effective control of Railways: Which become base for current development in railways.
