Puttur: Police arrest two interstate thieves, recover stolen goods

Puttur, Jul 22:  Acting on a tip-off, Puttur Rural Police have arrested two interstate thieves.

The arrested have been identified as Faizal A (37) alias Faizal alias Paggu, a resident of Lakshmamveedu colony, Bambrana, Kumble Kasargod, and Abdul Nisar(19), a resident of Rajeev Gandhi colony, Seethangoli, Kasargod.

It is said that Rathna, a resident of Nidbballi in Chooripadavu was returning home from Renja. When she reached Konadka of Bettampady village, the two accused who came on a red colour motorbike snatched her mangalasutra from her neck and fled from the scene.

Later, she filed a complaint in the rural police station. A special team consisting of Puttur Rural Inspector Umesh Uppalige and PSI Udayaravi M Y arrested the accused. They also seized the stolen Mangalasutra, a stolen bike from Badiyadka police station limits and a bullet bike used during the crime.

The accused also confessed to a theft reported from a petrol pump belonging to Jagannath Shetty in Kuddupadavu and theft of a goods tempo in Kashimath under Vittal police station besides a chain theft under the limits of Puttur City police station limits.

It is said that Faizal has been involved in several theft cases reported in Ullal, Manjeshwara, Kumble, and Badiyadka police station limits.
