Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 22: Dakshina Kannada on Friday July 22, reported 28 new coronavirus cases while 14 cases were registered in Udupi.

The total number of positive cases in the Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 1,36,101 out of which 72 are currently active. As many as 19 patients were discharged on July 22.

Zero deaths were reported on July 22. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,852.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authorities.

Positivity rate for the day stood at 2.74 percent.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,16,05,880 as fine in 96,212 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

14 coronavirus cases were reported on July 22. The total active Covid cases are 39.

A total of 10,89,455 people have received the first dose of vaccination and 10,80,176 have received both doses and 1,51,452 people have received booster doses.

Udupi reported seven cases, Karkala one and Kundapur six cases.
