Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 23: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday July 23, reported 16 new coronavirus cases while 11 cases were registered in Udupi.

The total number of positive cases in the Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 1,36,117 out of which 76 are currently active. As many as 12 patients were discharged on July 23.

No deaths were reported on July 23. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,852.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authorities.

Positivity rate for the day stood at 1.68 percent.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,16,05,880 as fine in 96,212 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

11 coronavirus cases were reported on July 23. The total active Covid cases are 49.

A total of 10,89,480 people have received the first dose of vaccination and 10,80,210 have received both doses and 1,52,621 people have received booster doses.

Udupi reported eight cases, Karkala one and Kundapur two cases.
