Mangalore, Mar 30: Even as the Indian team scalped the last Pakistani wicket to pull of a remarkable victory and march into the finals of the World Cup, cricket fans across the city rose in jubilation, celebrating India's win in great joy.

Throughout the day on Wednesday March 30, the city had worn a deserted look, with people choosing to watch the match either in their homes or at publics places and shops where generous shopkeepers had placed televisions with the match on. Business was rather low, but nobody seemed to mind.

The entire city was glued to television sets, cheering as each Pakistani wicket fell, and expressing expert views on what India ought to do to win. There were some tense moments when Misbah-ul-Haq looked like he might take the match away, but Zaheer's last over confirmed Indian victory.

People celebrated with sweets, fireworks, greeting and congratulating each other. Some were seen carrying the Indian flag in joy, and even little kids joined in the fun. There was lots of dancing, singing, and even some live music in various parts of the city.

Mangalore, Mar 30:
The entire country is gripped by cricket fever, and Mangalore has been no different.

On the day of the epic battle between the two arch rivals India and Pakistan at Mohali on Wednesday March 30, devoted cricket buffs in the city were seen watching the India-Pakistan World Cup semi-final on television at public places.

Many electronic shops had a TV placed outside the shop, exclusively meant for those who could not watch the game at home or office.

The city wore almost a deserted look by 2.30 pm.

Bank officials, shop keepers, students among others chose to watch the high-profile cricket action. Speaking to Daijiworld, Krishnaraj, a hotelier in Kankanady said that though many of his employees took leave, he could manage his business as there were very few customers.

For several days now cricket frenzy has been at its zenith, and on the D-day, the city, as expected, has chosen to turn its full attention on the action in Mohali.

John D'souza, Mangalore why are you commenting against Bajarangis waiving kesari flag. Be happy that they are celebrating Indian team victory. If you cannot see them waiving kesari flag, why dont you waive any coloured flag of your choice and celebrate indian cricket team victory.

If its a issue for you pepole then we can imagine how narrow minded education pepole are getting in society.

    Hello Mr.Dayananda,
First of all i have not even mentioned once a word "Kesari" in my comment.
ok if u still feel kesari flag should be waved, then its ur wish. But tomorrow if India wins the final n if muslims wave green flag saying people that"u know green stands for prosperity-coz India had a propesperous win n others start waving white saying "u know india had gr8 purity in their match"etc.so Im waving green ,white. Then the result would be ur saffron extremists would call them british or paki.So i say those who wave only kesari is a nepali.
U dont have to tell me that Hinduism is tolerant religion ,i know it i have lots of hindu friends.Problem is people like u are tarnishing the image.IF U SAY HINDUISM IS THE MOST TOLERANT IN THE WHOLE WORLD,THEN I WOULD SAY ISLAM IS 100 TIMES TOLERANT,THATS Y U CAN SEE BUNCH OF SHETTYS,SINDHIS,PUNJABIS SETTLING IN GCC.EVENTHOUGH GCC ISNT NATIVE HINDU COUNTRY,DUBAI GOVT GAVE A LAND TO BUILD TEMPLE FOR SINDHIS THAT TOO OPPOSITE A MOSQUE.
WHERE AS IN INDIA NATIVE MOSQUES R BEING DEMOLISHED.AH!!! N U STILL SPEAK ABOUT TOLERANCE GIMME A BREAK.PLEASE WE LOVE OUR INDIA N DONT MAKE US HATE IT WITH UR PSEUDO COMMENTS-JAI HIND

First Let me CONGRATS to Indian Team! Now I turn to Mr.Saleem, Your question is simple , ask your son or daughter, they will answer like this... (Pappa we celebrated semi-Finals because it will take us to finals and it did !!!)Quarter Final was way behind to reach Final. It is not as what you think, Australia or Pakistan who ever could it have been, in semi final, Only Semi-Final leads closer to Victory and not Quarter Final. I hope that is suffix for you Question and Doubt!!!

The invitation to Prime Minister of Pakistan by our Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was criticized by some commentators, leaders and some organizations to watch the cricket. Is there any good moments that he/the P.M., of Pakistan witnessed their team defeated on the Indian soil watched by 30,000 packed spectators?

In fact I saw a spirit of sport from both the teams who played well on the ground without any verbal abuses or minor tiny physical clash. Credit to Pakistan team for acting well on the ground and our team was always in a cool temperament and steady on the play ground. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF US ONCE AGAIN.

    Dear Readers,

CK Dayandanda/Mangalore needs immediate mental medical attention. He sense has been blind due to harline communual stance. Its not his fault but the faut of his parents who failed to inject good morale and the fault of the organisation with whom he is associated. He lunaticaly compares Indian victory against Pakistani as Hindu victory over Islam. Crazy thinking... He forgot India as a nation is made up of hindus, musims, christians etc. If he sees Indian team has musim players too. Robin Uttappa and Roger Binney are Christians. Siddu is a sikh... Its India and its not hinduism here... So much fanatically blind that he paints each and every incident with communual brush. These people are unfit to be called as civilized and citizens of our great country. They only love violence. He forgot that musim rulers were invited by hindu rulers of India to settle personal scores or for expansion. The earlier Indian hindu rulers were not united, the result of which foreign christian and muslim rulers came to India. Even today hindus are not united in political front. This type of disunity is found in all countries. Kuwait invited America against Iraq. Sri lanka invited India against its Tamils. This will go on as long as man is greedy and expansionist.. One cant be blind to the facts. I ask DCK to comment sensibly without hurting anyone's feelings, but I dont mind when one is hurt when he speaks the truth..Height of ignorance and hypocrisy...Dirty mind wid dirty teaching

    Shammi, Karnataka.

There is nothing wrong in showing Kesari Flag as victory of India is the victory of Hindus.

Do not compare us with Lybia, Syria and Gaddafi. We Hindus have the history of giving protection to Parsis, Jews and Tibetans who were displaced from their home land by fantacs and communists.

Our country was No. 1 in all walks of life before the foreign invadors came here and destroyed our culture.

Hinduism is the only Dharma in the world which teaches universal brotherhood [Vasudaiva Kutumbakam]. Other religions have spread their faith through voilence and inducement.

When Hinduism regains its glory in this country, the whole world becomes full of gentlemen [Kurvanthu Vishwam Aryam].

Hindus love this country through body [kaya], speech[vacha] and mind [manasa] and their destiny is tied with this country. While others' mind is in Saudi Arabia and
loylties to Pakistan though they say they are Indians.

An indian should understand that MANTRA-unity in diversity is the key to PROGRESS OF THE NATION.
Can't u see libya, syria is undergoing hell situations just bcoz of the divisions amongst people.Politicians always favour divisions, coz they wanna survive eg:Mr.Gaddafi is still surviving bcoz of the non-unity.But c through ur honest naked eyes ,u will find that LIBYA IS IN TRAUMA,BOTH PARTY IS NOT THINKING OF THEIR NATION.JUST WANNA BE THE SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST.
SAME THING THESE ANTISOCIALS IN INDIA R TRYIN TO DO THEY WANNA SURVIVE ,SO THEY USE THE MANTRA FAKE PATRIOTISM AND HINDUTVA ETC.WHEN ACTUALLY THEY ARE HYPOCRITES.SO DONT FALL PREY FOR ANY PARTIES.GET EDUCATED N BECOME MASTERS IN SPACE RESEARCH,IT,AGRICULUTRE ETC.And make India shine GLOBALLY.

Any other team would have folded up after the fall of 9th wicket but not Pakistan against India! Can you imagine, we did not have the right feeling to celebrate till the match was actuallly over, even though we knew it was our match. Besides, the Pakistani players behaved well throughout the match. Congrats to Ashish Nehra for a good performance and for his sportsmanship spirit in not claiming the catch. After a very long time feeling very nice to read a news paper instead of corruptions, murders, illegal mining some thing great happening in India. some thing which makes all of us to forget our community, religion, region or sate or language we speak. some thing which makes us to proud /realize that we are all ONE and part of a Grate nation called as INDIA.

i would like to quote some thing here

when we all of us realize what is our responsibility to serve the nation we wont make our hand dirty.

Congratulations to team India. Thoroughly professional and TEAM effort in the field to grab the win. 5 bowlers 2 wickets each and supported by the magnificent fielding effort which was a joy to watch.India Pakistan, cricket is like war, bring the whole nation into focus! But Afridi boasted too much before the match, couldnt save face at the end!!! GUl must berepnting his words!!The Pakis lost because of 100th century of Sachin, they were so obsessed of stoping Sachin from making the century, that winning the match was priority # 2 for them......NEWS from Pakistan Media all streets in Pakistan are flooded, bcoz of drainage overflowed, reason all paks are crying inside the toilets, ha ha ha ...cry babies.

Cricket is game of unity.....Its Indian team.... Thats great... Like criket we must be united in every field for common cause and keep religion and affiliations as personal. Cricket can bond and bring in unity. Two arch rivals countries met during the cricket. Jai ho cricket. Now we won against Pakis and I mean we won the world cup. We didnt allow \pakis to play final. Now with sri lanka it must be a game of sports and cricket. I hope we shall win and if we lose it it wont hurt me as it hurts when losing to Pakis... I pray for team india's victory and let the 2011 WC be ours.... aameen

    People,

Firstly let me Congratulate Indian team on their victory against Pakistan....

Secondly let me share a real life story with you.... I was living in Kuwait in mid eighties and ninties,,, I was amazed to see Pakistan playing better than india in those days,,, I felt it unbelievable and stunning...However I was not finding any rational reason for this till I discovered the reason.

Every friday morning (Weekly holiday there) when ever I used to pass any play ground in early morning 80% of the cricket players were Pakistanis....

Key to success in practice, Practice,, and more practice since very young age....there is no shortcut for this......

Hope people in the street will realise this.....

    Jai Hooooooooooooooooooooo

Congratulations Team India, What a party we had in Kudroli, people cracked crackers and took out a procession with more than 500 people beating drums and waiving the tri colour,The procession which started from Royal Friends Circle Jodpalli went to Kudroli and was joined by the hindu brothers beating drums who then came back to kudroli and passed through Jodpalli,Barke,Kambla cross,Alake and went back to Kudroli. It was a nice scene to see both muslims and hindus coming out to celebrate Indian win and join together in celebration in winning the match against the arch rival Pakistan and this shows cricket doesnt have religion, Long live the brotherhood between all the communities. I hope I have not hurt anyone mentioning about different communities but I did this only to highlight what cricket can do for us Mangaloreans as we had bad picture some time back.Jai ho, I hope India keeps winning.
