Bengaluru, July 24: After the earlier protest meeting held at Freedom Park and attempt to lay seize to Raj Bhavan against Congress party president Sonia Gandhi’s grilling by the Enforcement Directorate on last Friday, the KPCC will be holding a silent protest before the Mahatma Gandhi statue on July 26, Tuesday, against the continued questioning by ED on that day.
All State Congress leaders, legislators, party functionaries will assemble before the Gandhi statue in the Congress Bhavan in Bengaluru on Tuesday at 10 am against the second day’s questioning of Sonia Gandhi by ED in the National Herald case.
Speaking to media persons in front of his residence in Bengaluru on Sunday, the KPCC Chief DK Shivakumar said he had approached the court when his mother was to be questioned by the ED in the disproportionate assets case against him demanding that the questioning should be done at home instead of my mother’s going to ED office.
Shivakumar said he had held discussions with Congress leaders on Sunday night on the preparations for the Bharat Jodo yatra. ``I will not discuss with any leaders on any issue except the strengthening of the party,’’ he said.
However, Sonia Gandhi has shown rare courage by agreeing to visit and appear before the ED authorities
Responding to Revenue Minister R Ashok’s statement that Congress infighting has come to the streets and four leaders were fighting for one post, Shivakumar said the statement indicates that BJP has realised that Congress is coming back to power.
To the comment that Congress should learn discipline from BJP, the KPCC Chief said: ``What is there to learn from BJP? Should we learn about corruption from them or dirty politics.’’
Shivakumar later visited the Palanahalli Mutt in Magadi taluk and met Sri Siddaraju Swamy and other seers of Madiga community.
