Udupi: Cash, gold theft in broad daylight – Accused of Bagalkot origin arrested

Udupi, Jul 25: City police arrested accused who stole cash and golden ornaments in broad daylight from the house of lawyer Vani V Rao situated on the road behind the court.

The arrested accused is identified as Muttappa Basappa Mavarani (27), native of Bagalkot. He was arrested at Neelanagara of Bagalkot.

Mavarani had stolen Rs 25 lac worth goods including gold and cash on July 19. Police have recovered gold worth Rs 10 lac and cash of Rs 38,500 from him.

The court has sent accused to 15 days of judicial custody.

    as per reports, thieves entered house between 10 am to 2 pm.... how can thieves enter a house "in broad daylight".... why the lawyer did not keep jewellery of so much value in locker....

    be careful and watchful about people of other districts and states plus countries...now everyone knows that people of coastal karanataka can be easily put shendi....and also taken for ride...because we are athi buddivanthas and subagas....

    Thank god Kuju....you didnt say we are 🙊🙉🙈....Heartily thanking for the same yaa .....You know Kuju bhaiyya, our people dont believe to our own people....but outsiders wah... wah....they say everything. Mostly our local mens are not given work on daily wages. But, they want people outside the district like this case....

    Appreciated the city police efforts to catch the thief. How ever, police has only recovered 10lac of gold out of 25lac is questionable
