Kundapur, Jul 25: Incident of asking change for currency notes of bigger denomination and later returning the same with lesser amount has come to light at Thekkatte in the taluk.
Two strangers arrived at the prestigious cloth showroom of Thekkatte in the guise of customers and requested to give Rs 100 currency notes against five currency notes of Rs 2000 face value. The manager of the shop said that he does not have Rs 100 notes and gave them 20 notes of Rs 500.

A little while later, the shop was buzzing with customers. The strangers asked the manager to return five Rs 2000 notes back to them and take back the Rs 500 notes he gave them. When they returned, the amount is less by Rs 3,500 which the manager did not notice due to rush in the shop.
Later, the fraudsters visited a shop selling articles of Pooja and bought a bowl and gave Rs 2000 note. They took the change after paying for the bowl. However, a little later they arrived again to the shop and asked the owner of the shop to return the Rs 2000 note that they gave him. They said that auto rickshaw is waiting and the change is with the person sitting in auto and they will bring it. But they did not return at all.
It is learnt that a gang of Tamil Nadu origin comprising of men and women is doing this fraud. Police are trying to nab the gang.
