Kadaba, Jul 27: A boy died of electric shock while trying to remove the mobile charger at the time of lightning. This incident happened at Pullottu near Addahole of Siribagilu village of the taluk on Tuesday July 26.
The deceased victim has been identified as Rafin (14), son of Monachcha and Beena. The boy was living at his grandmother Sundari's place at Pullottu and was studying in ninth standard. However, he was not attending school and was staying at home for the past few days.
On July 26, when he was playing with other children in Peramajalu near his home due to the rainfall he returned to the place where he lived. At around 2.30 pm when he returned home he had kept his mobile phone for charging. It was still raining heavily accompanied by thunder and lightning. When lightning struck, he tried to remove the phone from the charger resulting in an electric shock and immediate death of the boy. The house was enjoying electricity supply under the Belaku Scheme from the Kombaru gram panchayat.
The boy had bought the mobile just a few days back, it is learnt. The deceased boy is survived by his parents and a brother.
Mescom officials AEE Sajikumar, JE Ramesh along with gram panchayat vice-chairman Saritha and members Ganesh and others paid a visit to the house to conduct a spot inspection.
Uppinangady police visited the house and have registered a case.
