Shimoga: Efforts on to Let Halappa Scot Free?

Shimoga, Apr 1: If rumours are to be believed, behind-the-scene efforts are going on, to strike a truce between former state minister, Hartalu Halappa, and his friend, Venkatesh Murthy, who has accused the minister of raping his wife. It is also expected that the charge sheet now filed by the criminal investigation department will facilitate the minister to get off the hook.
It is said that some leaders from Ediga community, to which Halappa belongs, and which forms an important segment of the district’s population, have been making tireless efforts to strike a truce between Halappa and his friend. It is said that ways and means through which the exercise of exonerating the minister should be given effect to, are being worked out.
At the same time, legal experts feel that bailing out of the minister at this advanced stage of the case, after some forensic tests were conducted, is difficult.
