Udupi, Jul 28: The Kundapura Kannada itself narrates that it is a regional dialect of the Kundapureans, which is unique and an ancient language. Like-minded youths have decided to dedicate July 28 this year as 'World Kundapura Kannada Day' and started to celebrate on the auspicious day of Ati Amavasya, which is very special for people of Tulu Nadu. The day of ‘Ashada Amavasya’ has been earmarked for the celebration across the world which falls on Thursday July 28 this year.
Many of prominent personalities have been born in Kundapur and they made proud the state proud by contributing hugely to the Kannada language. There are many more people who have etched their names in different fields like art, films, politics, social activists and so on.

Kundapura Kannada is culturally rich and beautiful. Kundapureans all over the world including those living in Russia, Israel and Bahrain say it is not just a dialect, but it is an emotion of the people. The dialect was not that much popular a few years back, but today, it has impressed many people and got its own recognition across the globe.
Kota Shivaram Karanth (literature), Janaki Srinivasa Murthy well known as Vaidehi (writer), Upendra (actor), Kashinath (actor and director), Sanchitha Padukone (actress), Ramesh Bhat (actor), Rishabh Shetty (actor and director), K Jayaprakash Hegde (politician), Gopalakrishna Adiga (poet), Bhumi Shetty (actress), Deekshith Shetty (actor), Ravi Basrur (music director), Anup D’Costa (volleyball player), Satish Acharya (Cartoonist), and K V Kamath of ICICI Bank are some of the well-known Kundapureans.
In recent times, Kundapur Kannada dialogues have become popular on social media and are being used in skits, dramas and even in the movies as well. Kundapur Kannada is a dialect of Kannada spoken in Kundapur, Byndoor, Brahmavar and Hebri taluks of Udupi district.
World Kundapura Kannada Day will be celebrated not only in Kundapur but also in other countries where Kundapureans live.
To mark the celebration of World Kundapura Kannada Day, various entertainment programmes have been organised by peer groups in different parts of Kundapur.
Many of them who love Kundapur language have updated their status and profile pictures on social media such as Facebook, twitter and Instagram and are keen to dedicate this day for the love of the language.
