Mangalore/Udupi: Undivided Dakshina Kannada District Police Observe Flag Day

Mangalore/Udupi, Apr 2: The undivided Dakshina Kannada district police observed Police Flag Day on Saturday April 2.
At the day observed at District Armed Reserve Police ground, Pandeshwar in Mangalore six contingents of the police force like Karnataka State Reserve Police, District Armed Reserve police, civil police and Traffic accompanied by the police band, celebrated Karnataka Police Flag Day, honouring all serving and retired police personnel‘s of the district.
Retired police sub-inspector Narayan Byndoor, the chief guest of the event, inspected the parade.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the government must fulfill all the requirements of the police personnel who are working hard to maintain law and order in the state. He also suggested that money collected from the sale of police flag should be utilized to meet the medical expenses of the family of retired police.
Presiding over the occasion, IGP Western Range Alok Mohan released the police flag.
A total of 25 people including the retired police officials were felicitated on the occasion. The children of police officials, who secured the highest marks in SSLC and PUC examinations, were also awarded.
Police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, Abhinav Khare, probationary IPS, the commander of the parade and superintendent of police Labhu Ram among others were present.
Udupi - Additional Facilities for Retired Policemen Demanded

Retired assistant superintendent of police, D Kunhakannan, inspected guard of honour, which was provided by the district armed forces contingent.
Speaking on the occasion, Kunhakannan requested the director general police of the state to put in efforts towards sanctioning medical expenses reimbursement facility and monthly rations for the retired policemen of the state. He noted that in armed police force, those who complete 18 years of service are promoted as head constables, and there are many who continue to work as head constables for 38 years. To remove this anomaly, and to provide career growth to these policemen, he requested for providing for at least three promotions during the career of a policeman.
District superintendent of police, Dr Y S Ravikumar, welcomed. On this occasion, amounts sanctioned out of welfare fund for different purposes to 16 retired policemen amounting to Rs 1,18,900 were disbursed.
Assistant superintendent of police, Kundapur, Dr Ram Nivas Sepat, was present. Parade commandant, N M Yadavad, led the police parade. B Manmohan Rao presented the programme. Deputy superintendent of police, Jayant Shetty, proposed vote of thanks.
